Oct 16, 2014 - It is now possible to construct 3D models of Alzheimer's disease with human neurons derived from induced stem cells of patients with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Oct 1, 2014 - The Institute announces the novel creation of 3-dimensional neural tissue constructs that have embedded micropatterned nanofiber scaffolding for use in guiding neurite outgrowth and formation of neural circuitry. These constructs demonstrated enhanced neurite outgrowth and control of neurite direction along aligned nanofibers through the 3D hydrogel. This work provides a unique and innovative approach for creating neural constructs that can guide neurite outgrowth and neuronal morphology at the micron level in three dimensions, and this important advancement will help in replication and restoration of functional neuroanatomical pathways in the future. See more information on our research in the Education pages of the website.

Sept 26, 2014 - New research suggests that stem cells use cellular vesicles as little "first aid kits" to repair neural tissue damage.

Dec 1, 2013 - Join us at the World Stem Cell Summit on Dec 4-6 in San Diego. This is the largest conference on stem cell research and regenerative medicine, covering the most recent advancements from multiple experts in the field.
